Makino Milling Machine Co., Ltd. started in 1967 after several changes in the earlier years by its founder Tsunezo Makino. In 1966 Makino was the first Japanese company to develop and market a Machining Center. After rapid growth from an earlier valutaion the company is now worth over 1BN Yen. In 1978 Makino acquired Heidenreich & Harbeck Werkzeugmaschinefabrik GmbH and allowed an instant entrance and use of production facilites for its machine tools marketed to Europe, 3 years later in 1981, Makino also gained further production facilities by taking over Leblond (USA) and becoming Leblond Makino Machine Tool Company. The level of success enjoyed by Makino and its founder whom is still alive today, is second to none in the world of machine tools. Nowadays, Makino concentrates on HMC, VMC and EDM machines, and has a massive and loyal customer base.
